Many a times we come across some mishaps or misfortune in our life which we haven't accounted for or which is so sudden that our life takes a complete different turn. Planning exotic holidays and making how and where they will party out. Whereas Laurence was busy making money.

We all marvel or have fantasy of have a lavish lifestyle. We believe at it is what will make us happy. That the people we are partying with are our best friends and that nothing can ever go wrong.

Like true friends are those who tend to stand up even when you have nothing on you. Amanda whom Lily considered her best friend avoided them like plague after the downfall. Whereas Tracey who hardly knew them happily shared whatever she had and stood up with them like a true friend throughout. Living with Tracey lily learned that what she was living before was a life of pretenses and appearance. Whereas now she can be herself with no one to judge them . They can open up with each other and be more happy. Then they ever were.

Lily and Laurence while in their previous lifestyle where living like Queen and King but the spark was missing. They didn't spend time with each other. The children
were send to boarding school. Both were busy on one pretext or other. The didn't spend time with there own kids. After downfall they came closure to each other as a family. Getting to spend quality time.

As we read it we realise that this is becoming a norm in our so called high end life's. We are have become slaves of technology. We don't have time for ourselves, let for our dear ones. We all have hundreds of friends in Facebook and other social Media but do we have that one Friend whom we can rely on our bad time?
We all are living life's as if there is no tomorrow. But have we saved enough to last us while it rains?

We don't need to be thrown to the roads to get to know how the character feels.

Eleven minutes is the journey of an innocent small town girl named Maria in search of fame, money and husband who ends up in Geneva as a prostitute.

Sex and Prostitution are the two words which are looked down upon as a sin in our society. People are reluctant to talk or discuss about sexual issues even with there partners. In such a scenario where most of us are not even comfortable Paulo Coelho have beautifully pointed out all the aspects of sex love sadism.

It is interesting to note that prostitution is one of the earliest professions of the world. We can see it was even mentioned in The Bible.

"I can choose either to be a victim of the world or an adventurer in search of treasure. It's all a question of how I view my life."

The same logic can be applied here when we read the book. Its how we view it.

The world is filled with mysteries and surprises. We never know what's in store for us. In our daily day to day life we learn new things. Some of us are always in search of new exciting things whereas others just shy away from them. But life is so full of surprises that we might wake up one morning and find ourselves face to face with the very demons and prejudices we have always shunned off from. We have to make choices take decisions , some are constructive and some self destructive. But that is what life is about.
Its about fears, hopes, realisation and dreams to relish everything the world got to offer.
As life progresses and we grow up there is an emotional progress or mental progress - we tend to view things different from how we see it years ago. Our views keep changing for good and bad as we learn new things.
We might be happy today and sorrowful tomorrow. But that's how the things work.
Its all about disappointments and living your dreams. to survive the battle called life. Nothing remains the same. Life have different ways to teach us different things.

Some of us may take is as a sex book. Some as a love story.The story is Maria can be anyone's story.
We all are like Maria. We all have desires dreams ambitions. We have make decisions right and wrong ones. We take risks and move forward or we don't take risk and become stagnant. We all get opportunity in life.

Some are courageous enough to say yes to life some are not.

We might have noticed it or not but we are in a world where everything is standardized- there are certain rules and norms to everything.
If we follow them we are in the right track.
But what if we don't? What if we tend to differ our views from the general views of the society at large?

The book Eleven Minutes mirrors these things.- its about learning the lessons in life, giving everything for the sake of your dreams, taking things for granted, finding our own self, discovering our weakness and strength at our worst times.
Having the real definition of sex finding love and moving on.

Paulo Coelho have yet again tried to influence and motive us through this novel. The character of Maria here is that of a very strong woman. It teaches us some very important life lessons. Maria a girl from a small village who dreams to make it big one day. She dreams of fame money and a loving family. Along with the desire to travel and have adventure.
She took the first opportunity that comes on her way but unfortunately she finds that she was being cheated. Being far from family and home in an unknown country she didn't gave up. She decided to stay back and give her best shot. So she started learning the language of the unknown city she was in. The desire to do something to achieve her dream was so strong in her that she didn't moved back even when she was dubbed the second time over. Wherein she learned that in order to achieve her dreams the fastest way would be through selling herself. She decided to become a prostitute.
Even after becoming a proustite she maintains her desires and did not let her soul be distroyed.
She took up the profession as a professionalist would have.
She noticed that men who comes to her don't really comes to have sex( which takes just eleven minutes) but there is a lot more reasons.
She decided that she have to be different from what the other girls of her profession is. She studied a variety of books in order to make a difference.

Everyone of us are selling our time. But in the process of selling time we are for getting that we can't buy back time. We are all so busy in the race of time and trying to achieve our dreams that we fail to see the basic things around us.

We all are so busy in our routine life that we fail to understand where to put a stop.
We become our own slaves. We fail to see our inner light .

"No one loses anyone, because no one owns anyone. That is the true experience of freedom: having the most important thing in the world without owning it"

Won't our life become so much easy and happy if we understand this simple thing?

Even while she was a in such a profession she teaches us that no job is a mean job.
We can make a difference in any job if we have a desire to do the needful.

And finally after finding that she have earned enough so that she and her family can start with a comfortable life she decided to quit her job as a prostitute.
She knew if she don't quit now she will be bond to get stuck. Which again teaches us a valuable lesson. Not to get stuck by the life. We all in our dream to get big famous and in the race of life always tend to forget till its too late to enjoy life around us. To spend time with our dear ones till its too late. We always are in hurry. We sell our time but we forget that we can't buy it back.
