Eleven minutes is the journey of an innocent small town
girl named Maria in search of fame, money and husband who ends up in
Geneva as a prostitute.
Sex and Prostitution are the two words which are looked
down upon as a sin in our society. People are reluctant to talk or
discuss about sexual issues even with there partners. In such a scenario
where most of us are not even comfortable Paulo Coelho have beautifully
pointed out all the aspects of sex love sadism.
It is interesting to note that prostitution is one of the
earliest professions of the world. We can see it was even mentioned in
The Bible.

Paulo Coelho have yet again tried to influence and motive
us through this novel. The character of Maria here is that of a very
strong woman. It teaches us some very important life lessons. Maria a
girl from a small village who dreams to make it big one day. She dreams
of fame money and a loving family. Along with the desire to travel and
have adventure.Having the real definition of sex finding love and moving on.
She took the first opportunity that comes on her way but unfortunately she finds that she was being cheated. Being far from family and home in an unknown country she didn't gave up. She decided to stay back and give her best shot. So she started learning the language of the unknown city she was in. The desire to do something to achieve her dream was so strong in her that she didn't moved back even when she was dubbed the second time over. Wherein she learned that in order to achieve her dreams the fastest way would be through selling herself. She decided to become a prostitute.
Even after becoming a proustite she maintains her desires and did not let her soul be distroyed.
She took up the profession as a professionalist would have.
She noticed that men who comes to her don't really comes to have sex( which takes just eleven minutes) but there is a lot more reasons.
She decided that she have to be different from what the other girls of her profession is. She studied a variety of books in order to make a difference.
Everyone of us are selling our time. But in the process of selling time we are for getting that we can't buy back time. We are all so busy in the race of time and trying to achieve our dreams that we fail to see the basic things around us.

We become our own slaves. We fail to see our inner light .

quit her job as a prostitute.
